Coats, NC: Mr. Sam Tripp, Jr., age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, at his residence. A memorial service will be 10:00AM Friday, at Coats Community Church. Dr. Jim Cochran will officiate. Graveside service will be 3:30PM Friday, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mr. Tripp was born in Pitt County on October 26, 1929 to the late Sam Tripp, Sr. and Nora Ann Cannon Tripp. Mr. Tripp retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He served his country in the US Army for 22 years with tours in Korea, Alaska, two tours in Germany and Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star Medal. He was an active member of Coats Community Church.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Thompson Tripp; daughters, Tamsen McCoy of Lillington, Heide Quigg and husband, Joseph, of Fayetteville and Shawn McCoy of Lillington; sons, Samuel J. Tripp and wife, Angela, of Zebulon and Steven Tripp of Willow Spring; grandchildren, Christina Coats, Samuel Gladson, Mickey McCoy, Cayleigh Quigg, Joseph Quigg, Liam & Nathan Durham, Jacque & Elizabeth Lockard; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan O'Shea of Jacksonville, FL and Barbara Hollingsworth and husband, Sam, of Alabama.
