Samuel Blackman, Sr.

Benson, NC:  Mr. Samuel “Sam” Blackman, Sr. age 69 of 428 Marler Rd. died Sunday at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Hood’s Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Clayton Sutton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Blackman was born March 5, 1942 in Johnston County to the late James Roy and Hilda Smith Blackman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Cox Blackman, and Brothers, George Blackman and Mack Blackman. Mr. Blackman was a supervisor in the home and commercial construction business. He also served in the US Army and was a member of Hood’s Grove Baptist Church. Surviving include Sons & Daughters-In-Law, Samuel & Lisa Blackman of Four Oaks and Jeffery & Sharon Blackman of Benson; Sisters, Cleon B. Lee of Four Oaks and Geraldine B. Landrum of Richmond, Va.; Brother, Robert Blackman of Aylett, Va.; Grandchildren, Emma Blackman, Clayton Blackman, and Madison Blackman. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday.
