Samuel Walter Smith

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Samuel Walter Smith, age 87, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his daughter's residence in Kernersville, NC. A Memorial Service will be held by the family at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Antioch United Methodist Church in Four Oaks. Rev. Walter Gaskins, Jr.             Mr. Smith was born on August 11, 1932 in Jasper County, SC to the late Nelly and Eva Snipes Smith. He was a US Navy veteran serving in Korea and Vietnam.  After retiring from the US Navy, Mr. Smith was a  truck driver and member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Four Oaks, N.C.  He was also a member of the American Legion in Four Oaks, VFW in Clinton, Johnston County Vietnam Veteran, American Legion of Warsaw, Fellowship Lodge 84 of Smithfield, and Chicora Masonic Lodge 366 of Charleston, SC.                 Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mable Ann Smith of Four Oaks; daughter, Margaret Sue Smith of Kernersville, NC; grandsons, Samuel Clayton Taylor of Selma, Nathan G. Long of Four Oaks, and Thomas River Bobbitt of Kernersville, NC; great-grandson, Samuel Clayton Taylor, Jr.; and brother, Donald Smith of  Early Branch, SC; and sisters, Evelyn Moody and Joyce Smith both of Early Branch, SC.             The family will receive friends immediately following the service.             Arrangements by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC 27524.
