S. Durwood Allen

Benson, NC: Mr. Samuel Durwood Allen, age 72, of 902 Ivey Road died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at his residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson. Mr. Allen was born December 21, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Valton B and Nicey Ivey Allen. He was preceded in death by a Sister, Muriel Thornhill. Mr. Allen had retired form Flow Serve as a machinist. He also attended Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and served in the North Carolina National Guard. Surviving includes his Wife of 46 years, Ann Register Allen; Daughter & Son-In-Law, Debra & Scott Hayes of Benson; Brothers & Sisters-in-Law, Eustace & Emma Lee Allen, and Gerald & Charlotte Allen both of Benson; Grandchildren, Austin Hayes and Annagail Hayes; and several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Friday, November 23, 2012, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Flowers are welcomed; however memorials may be made to the Hannah’s Creek Sunday School, c/o Ronnie Johnson, 307 S. Market Street, Benson, NC  27504.
