Sherrill Layton Johnson

Four Oaks, NC:  Mr. Sherrill Layton Johnson, age 82, of 1569 Oliver's Grove Road died Tuesday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.  Funeral Service will be 2:00PM  Friday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson.  Officiating will be Revs. Marvin Bryant and Woodrow Miller.  Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse, Smithfield, NC. Mr. Johnson was born in Johnston County on December 30, 1933 to the late Wyatt and Bessie McLamb Johnson.  He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Wanda and Teresa Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was a retired Custodian for Johnston County Schools and a retired farmer.  He was also a member of Johnson Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church of Benson. Surviving are wife of 62 years, Joyce Blackmon Johnson; daughter & son-in-law, Connie and Randy Lassiter of Four Oaks; sisters, Grace Byrd of Four Oaks, Marie West of Benson, Mary Lou Byrd of Benson and Annie Ruth Blackmon of Garner; brother, Eugene Johnson of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
