Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Sherry Adams Baker, MSN, CRNA , age 59, of Lakewood Road passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Johnson Memorial Church in Angier. Officiating will be Revs. Brandon Teachey and Chris Searles. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Mrs. Baker was born on May 16, 1961 in Aroostook County, Maine to her mother, Floriee Johnson West and to her late father, Wallace Ray Adams. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Kenneth M. West. Mrs. Baker graduated from SJHS in 1979. She received her ADN from Wayne Community College in 1981, BSN from East Carolina University in 1983 and her MSN from University of North Carolina in Greensboro in 1992 along with her anesthesia diploma from the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia. As an employee at American Anesthesiology and Johnston Health since her graduation from anesthesia school, Sherry enjoyed taking care of the patients and giving back to the community. She loved her anesthesia career and wants to thank Paul Woodard, MD for his wonderful mentorship and constant words of encouragement as he is the reason for her anesthesia career. Mrs. Baker was a member of Johnson Memorial Church.
Mrs. Baker had a long fight with ovarian cancer. She had such a miracle from God in that she lived 13 years after her diagnosis. Her belief in God and her children were her reason for living. Her children were the joys of her life, her wish is that everyone knows God and accepts him into their heart as their Lord and Savior.
Surviving in addition to her mother are; her husband of 37 years, Dale Baker, her three beautiful children and her reason for living, sons, Adam Dale Baker, Eric Reid Baker(Lindsey Cobb), and daughter, Lauren Elyse Baker; sister, Rhonda Herring and husband, Ricky along with her brother, Scott West; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker had so many special friends who were very supportive throughout her illness and life. She was very appreciative for all the love and support from all friends and family. You were all cherished by her.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, November 6, 2020 and other times at the home.
