Trenton, FL: Sherry Lynn Creech went to be with her Lord and savior on June 26, 2024 at the Ocala Medical and Rehab Center.
She was born Dec 17, 1951 in Fremont, Ohio. Sherry grew up as a “farm kid” near Wakeman, OH and graduated from Firelands High School. She joined the Navy, following her father’s footsteps. She served as a Hospital Corpsman from 6/12/70-3/31/73. She married Joe on 4/30/91 and reconnected with biological brother Terry in 2006. She said that those events were her two most memorable.
Sherry worked hard until mounting health problems slowed her down. When Joe retired from the USMC, they settled in Trenton, FL. There she helped Joe prepare the property for their home and then decorated it in patriotic colors and memorabilia. She continued in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist, ending that career at Butler Lake Hospital. Later Joe and Sherry moved to Four Oaks, NC where Joe had grown up but shortly afterward Sherry had to return to the Florida home to be able to tend to her health problems.
Sherry was especially proud of her country and all who served in the military. She enjoyed the outdoors, the Gator sports teams, and critters - especially cats. Travis and Heather Sapp and their children became like family to Joe and Sherry. Sherry also loved and very much appreciated the teams that cared for her in the Lake City and Gainesville VA Medical Centers as well as the Ocala Heath and Medical team.
She was preceded in death by her mother Alfreda Jackson and her father Rollin Jackson, 97. She is survived by her husband: Joe Creech, 82, Four Oaks, NC; brother: Ronald L. Jackson, 73, Oberlin; OH; sister: Jennifer L. Haslage, 57, Vermilion, OH; and brother: Terry Filson, 74, Kennewick, WA.
Sherry will be missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 30th at 3:00pm at Watson-Milton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00pm. Graveside service will be at the Massengill Family Cemetery in Four Oaks, NC on Wednesday, July 3 at 11:00 AM.
