Sylvia Moore Parker, 82, of Four Oaks passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM-10:45AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Hopewell Original Free Will Baptist Church 5835 Black Creek Road, Smithfield, NC 27577. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00AM. Revs. Roger Hill and Duane Casey will officiate. Burial will follow in Four Oaks City Cemetery in Four Oaks, NC. 

 Sylvia is the daughter of the late R.C., Jr. and Recia Hall Moore of Four Oaks. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, David H. ‘Butch’ Parker, Sr., brother, Larry Shelton Moore and infant brothers Jimmie and Johnnie Moore. 

 Sylvia is survived by her son David H. Parker, Jr. and wife Cathy of Smithfield, and granddaughters Shannon Parker Olive and husband Edward of Newton Grove, Natalie Parker of Four Oaks, and Gracie Parker of Smithfield, ‘her darlins’ great-grandsons Elliot and Everett Olive of Newton Grove, her sister Sue Moore Johnson of Clayton, sister-in-law Jane Parker of Four Oaks, and several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was proud of her family and loved to cook for and spend time with them any chance she got.

 After graduating from Four Oaks High School in 1960, Mrs. Parker went on to attend Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh. She worked in the Johnston County Clerk of Court office and retired as Assistant Clerk of Court in 2004 with 43 years of loyal service. 

 Mrs. Parker was a member of Hopewell Original Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield. She sang in the Church’s Chancel Choir for many years and was an active member and officer of the Ladies Auxiliary.

 A special thanks to the staff of the SECU Hospice House for their loving care.
