Thomas Edward "Tom" Benson

Four Oaks, NC - Thomas “Tom” Edward Benson, age 82, died on Thursday June 2, 2022 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Funeral Services will be held 4:00PM -Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Four Oaks, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Jessie Brock. Burial will follow in Burnell Baptist Church Cemetery outside Four Oaks, NC.  

Mr. Benson was born on October 8, 1939 in Johnston County to the late Gardner and Esther Johnson Benson. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis Benson, Roy Benson, Landy K. Norris, Mack Norris; and a sister, Neta Norris. He was a retired drywall contractor in the residential construction industry and was a longtime member of Burnell Baptist Church outside Four Oaks, NC.  He loved his family, hunting, fishing, playing checkers and playing games with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jackie Johnson Benson; his children, Smitty Benson and wife, Stephanie; Jan Benson Rhodes and husband, Jervis; Joy Benson Canaday and husband, Jonathan; and Jill Benson Norris and husband, Keven; grandchildren, Brittany Benson, Hunter Benson, Cody Norris, Colton Norris, Abby Rhodes, Nathan Canaday, Addison Canaday, and Jennifer Norris; great-grandchildren, Ava and Houstin Bryant; brothers, Walt Benson,  Dean Benson, Dannie B. Norris, and  Rodney Norris; sisters, Deborah Norris, Dottie Moore, and Anita Hicks; many nieces and nephews.     

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC prior to the chapel service.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Burnell Baptist Building Fund, C/O  Sylvia Johnson 953 Gardner Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
