Benson. NC: Mr. Thurman Henry Whittington, age, 85, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence. Due to weather, the Funeral Service will be held 3:00PM-Friday, November 13, 2020 in the Fellowship Hall of The First Baptist Church of Four Oaks. Rev. John Norman, Rev. Marie Fox and Amy Whittington will officiate. The service will be live streamed at the link below.
Mr. Whittington was born on April 7, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Thaddeus and Ethel Johnson Whittington. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, sisters, Julia Whittington Grimes, Sarah Whittington Dixon and Annie Laura Whittington Johnson and a niece, Janet Evans Norris. Mr. Whittington was a US Army Veteran and was also a lifelong electrician, retiring from Watson Electrical in Raleigh in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Four Oaks where served as a deacon, electrician, elevator operator, head usher, building and grounds committee and received the Bryan McLamb Man of The Year award in 2004 and 2009.
Surviving include his loving wife of 54 years, Lola Belle Massengill Whittington; loving children, Amy Benita Whittington, Thurman Neal Whittington and wife, Dee; grandchildren, Raynor Elizabeth Whittington and Salem Arabella Whittington; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 1:45PM-2:45PM, Friday, November 13, 2020 in the fellowship hall at the First Baptist Church in Four Oaks.
