Angier: Mrs. Virginia May Walker Slaughter, age 89, died Tuesday at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center in Benson. Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Jefferds.
Mrs. Slaughter was born August 17, 1927 in Granville County to the late William Lee and Macy Pat King Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas Slaughter and brothers, J.W. Walker and Fleming Walker. Mrs. Slaughter worked in the Oasis Store at Campbell University and was the former owner and operator of Ma's Grill in Coats. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are children, Dorsey Lee Slaughter and wife, Carol Rose of Angier; Patricia S. Knust and husband, Ken of Richmond, Virginia; Sylvia S. Faircloth and husband, Henry of Angier; and Debbie S. Johnson and husband, Benny of Angier; grandchildren, Karen Arease Faircloth and special friend, Jerry Coats, Kenneth F. Knust, Matthew T. Slaughter and wife, Amanda, Amber Elaine Johnson Pero and husband, Mike and Christopher Ryan Slaughter and fiancee, Kassay Wallace; six great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday 11:30 AM-12:45 PM prior to the service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats and other times at the home of Sylvia S. Faircloth, 2080 Mabry Road, Angier, NC 27501.
