Virginia Doris Sitterson

May 1, 1926 — February 9, 2016

Clayton, NC:  Mrs. Virginia Doris Collier Sitterson, age 89, of 501 Matthews Road, died Tuesday at Barbour Court in Smithfield.  Funeral services will be 2:00PM Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3414 N. Shiloh Rd., Garner, NC 27529.  Officiating will be Rev. Mitch Lockamy.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sitterson was born May 1, 1926 in Northampton County to the late Luther P. and Kathryn Bridgers Collier.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Earl Sitterson; and brother, Jimmy Green Collier.  Mrs. Sitterson was a self-employed hair dresser, homemaker and also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  Surviving are her son, John Michael Howell, Sr. of Farmville; daughter, Betty H. Strickland of McGee's Crossroads; grandchildren and spouses, Jenny Howell and fiancé, Joel Myers of Willow Spring, Jackie Newsome of McGee's Crossroads, Jay and Ashley Howell of Farmville; great grandchildren, Paige Newsome, Austin Newsome, Taylor Howell, Summer Howell, Carson Howell and Brayden Myers; brother, Perry Lee Collier, Sr. of Woodland, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Shiloh Baptist Church in Garner Friday 12:30PM - 1:30PM prior to the service and other times at the home of Jenny Howell, 295 Axum Road, Willow Spring, NC  27592. Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3414 N. Shiloh Road, Garner, NC  27529 or Cleveland Fire Department, Station 1, 9039 Cleveland Road, Clayton, NC  27520.
