Wayne Thomas Stephenson

Willow Spring, NC: Mr. Wayne Thomas Stephenson, age 66, of US Hwy 50 North passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence. Memorial Services will be held 4:00PM Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Providence Presbyterian Church at McGee’s Crossroads, Angier. Revs. Westley Taylor and Mr. Kent Walton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Stephenson was born on May 9, 1955 in Johnston County to the late William Paul, Jr. and Jean Roberts Stephenson. He was an avid baseball player and all of his baseball records at South Johnston High School have never been broken. Mr. Stephenson was awarded the South Johnston High School Monogram Awarded in 1973. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011for his outstanding contributions to the success of athletics in Johnston County. Mr. Stephenson also owned and operated Stephenson’s Nursery in Willow Spring since 1978.

Surviving include his life-partner, Debbie Lynn Jernigan of McGee’s Crossroads; daughters, Danielle Michelle Stephenson and Carlos Rojas, Jessica Roberts and Gray Johnson all of McGee’s Crossroads; grandchildren, Anthony Rojas, Isabella Rojas, Weston Kenley Roberts; brothers, Sammy Stephenson and wife, Wendy, Andy Stephenson and wife, Lynn, Chris Stephenson and wife, Kristy all of McGee’s Crossroads; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends immediately following the committal service and other times at the home.
