Willie Joe Sorrell

Benson, NC: Mr. Willie Joe Sorrell, age 86, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at his residence.  A Private Entombment Service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.                Mr. Sorrell was born in Harnett County on July 6, 1933 to the late Howard Lentis and Maude Penny Sorrell.  He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Lynn Sorrell, brothers, Billy Sorrell and Don Sorrell. Mr. Sorrell retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections and was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church. He was a US Army Veteran. Surviving include his wife of 33 years, Joyce Godwin Sorrell, daughter, Susan Allen of Willow Spring; step-children, Johnny and Linda Allen; James Higgins, Jr., and wife, Myra; and Jennifer Higgins all of Benson; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; five step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Stephenson, Betty Sorrell and Opal Coats and husband, James all of Benson; brothers, H.L. Sorrell and wife, Gayle of Coats and Keith Sorrell and wife, Linda of Benson; many nieces and nephews; special dogs, Lady and Baby.
